Clavell Tower is a four storey circular tower standing 11m high above the cliffs of Kimmeridge Bay.

The turret was built in 1830 as an observatory and a folly and is Grade II listed. The shale headland was eroding at a rate of 13m per century and by the 1980s the building was seriously threatened by shoreline erosion. This project involved moving the tower 25m away from the cliff edge.

Each of the tower’s 16,272 stones was removed, numbered and photographed before being installed in its new location. The project was finally completed in
2008.
