Giraffe Hall
Location: Port Lympne, Kent
Client: The Aspinall Foundation
Architect: Giles Quarme Architects
Value: £2.5M
Giraffe Hall is a timber-framed, Grade II* Listed medieval Wealden house.
The project involves the sensitive repair and conversion of the historic building into a boutique hotel, providing 10 bedrooms, alongside the construction of 5 luxury cabins within the surrounding grounds. A new access off the Public Highway and car parking is to be provided.

The works require careful conservation of a highly significant historic structure using traditional materials and craft techniques. The site is located within an area affected by known landslip, creating additional complexity for the design of new drainage infrastructure. The integration of new accommodation within a sensitive historic and natural setting also required careful consideration.

The project will deliver a unique boutique hotel experience, combining heritage conservation with high-quality new accommodation.
Guests will have direct access to the adjacent giraffe reserve, creating a distinctive visitor experience, while ensuring the long-term preservation and sustainable reuse of an important historic building.
