Fire Damage Assessment
Our engineers have been involved in the post fire restoration of historic buildings for many years dating back as far as the devastating fire at Windsor Castle in the 1990s.

We complete many successful projects every year and have a thorough understanding of what is needed in complex situations. Working on fire-damaged properties requires a sensitive approach and clear communication. Each project goes through similar phases, and initially, safety is paramount. Early assessment is vital to ensure the building is safe as soon as possible, and elements that could collapse should be dismantled while preserving as much historic fabric as possible—a difficult balance to achieve.

Once the site is safe to work on, protection measures are implemented to prevent further deterioration.

After protection, a detailed damage assessment is carried out to identify which elements can be retained as they are and which require repair. This assessment informs the repair strategy, which is necessary to obtain Listed Building Consent.

Completing post-fire restoration projects is complex and often involves a number of specialist consultants and trade contractors. We bring deep knowledge and experience to our projects, supported by a network of specialists who can assist in even the most challenging situations.
